Pictured at a Mini Cooper Club rally, the car was driven competitively in events including the Monte Carlo and RAC Rallies in the 1960s. The Mini Cooper caught the motoring world's imagination during the 1960s, notching up many Rally successes. The Cooper S originally appeared in 1963 powered by a 1071cc engine, with a more powerful 1275cc engine being introduced in 1964.
