Instituted 23 April 1905 by King Friedrich August III. (1905 1918 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with World War clasp, the obverse with a central monogram of King Friedrich August III, within a laurel wreath, the reverse with an inscription of FRIEDRICH AUGUST MEDAILLE, within a wreath of stylized oak leaves, unmarked, measuring 28. 54 mm in diameter,
