In silver gilt, a white enamel cross with ball finals in each knee, a turret in each quadrant, the obverse medallion features a handpainted center with a blue ring inscribed SAN MARINO PROTETTORE, the reverse medallion features a superimposed coat of arms of San Marino on a white enamel field, surrounded by a blue enamel ring inscribed MERITO CIVILE E MILITARE, the cross is
