Mary E. Baldwin’s 1850 Graphite Drawing of Man Walking Path (Toward Tiny Chair!) handmade wooden keyholder beautiful studio) in WorcesterIve got a great lot of love for this drawing, proudly signed by a Mary E. Baldwin in 1850, perhaps most of all for the tiny chair, and maybe a little table too, just waiting for this figures arrival at the top of the hill! An unexpected detail, but exactly the right thing to give this drawing a narrative arc, and to place all of our empathy with this hatted figure, cane in one hand and other in his pocket, as he slowly makes his way.
