Description
I know that reverse glass painting was taught to young women in the first half of the 19th century and then became widely popular as a decorative art from about 1850 to 1890
The frame is in good condition
of which this one is emblematic
very lovely
and hopefully an equally rich one ahead of it
Tall Wooden Arm and Hand (Mold?) wooden foot I know that reverse glassI'm guessing this was probably made as a mold, but I'm not completely sure. While fairly crudely done, I like it as a gesture of a raised hand, as if saying "I know the answer" and forever waiting to be called upon! 17 1 4" t x 6 1 2" w x 3 1 8" d (at base). Very good condition, pine I believe, with some darkening to the wood near the end of the arm.
