Late 19th century, two of these boxes once held blocks that comprised Froebel's "Gift 6" (thirty six wood blocks of three sizes), while the long box contained Gift #1, a set of six knitted balls, each is a single solid color. Though empty now, they remain beautiful and iconic feeling boxes with the paper labels still well attached, and they still feel all about possibility
