Eddystone Lighthouse, Plymouth, Devon Size:XL: 90 x 90cm there are musicians playingView of the Eddystone lighthouse, Plymouth, Devon, c1837, with a sailing ship and a rowing boat in a rough sea at its base. Built by John Smeaton 1n 1756 59, this was the third lighthouse on the Eddystone Rocks, 14 miles south of Plymouth, the previous two having been destroyed by storm and fire respectively. It stood until 1882, when it was replaced by the present lighthouse.
