2024 Thomas Batardiere Grolleau 'Amor Fati', Loire, France Leon Barral where he farms the vinesCertified Biodynamic. 100% Grolleau from a tiny 0. 33 ha parcel planted in the 1960s. The vineyard Case Neuve is split between just two parcels, and Batardire farms one of them. Yields here are low (25 hl ha), and the soils are wild: a former riverbed sitting between the Britannic and Parisian continental plates, layered with clay, blue schist, quartz, and eroded schist. Fermented semi carbonic in stainless steel, with native yeasts and no additions.
