Scutellaria Appalachian Blues PP 34854 Onoclea lightly scabrous

lightly scabrous

How is it that one of the most amazing deer-resistant natives is rarely offered in a nursery

this one does not like alkalinity

but mark the plant's location well since rue anemone is usually dormant by late summer

very easy to grow and simply superb in the woodland garden

Scutellaria Appalachian Blues PP 34854 Onoclea lightly scabrousScutellaria 'Appalachian Blues' is a new North Creek Nursery introduction of a hybrid between two US native woodland skullcaps, Scutellaria serrata and ovata. The small clumps, which are similar to Scutellaria serrata, reach 1' tall x 20" wide, clothed with thumb size green leaves that emerge with a narrow black border. The deciduous clump is topped, starting for us in early May, with stalks of violet flowers that rise 4" above the mound of foliage.
